Description
The BBE 1002 is a stereo sonic maximizer that uses circuitry to ’round out’ bass and better define high frequencies.
This unit has a ‘tape monitor’, similar to what’s found on home stereo receivers, that allows a second input and output along the signal path.
Other front panel controls include the ‘Lo Contour’ (for bass frequencies) and ‘Definition’ (for the highs), a main bypass button and another to engage the tape monitor.
The back panel is simple, with stereo inputs and outputs for both the tape monitor and the main program source.
This BBE unit is clean, crisp and functions perfectly. The high frequencies, especially, really ‘clean up’ and are nicely defined.
Sonic maximizers also are known as ‘dynamic range expanders,’ and this one does a great job of it.
